I specialize in individual, couples and family therapy, and maintain a private practice in Lexington, SC. With over 25 years of professional experience, I have a Masters in Social Work, am licensed as an Independent Social Worker practitioner in South Carolina, and have my PhD in Social Work. I also work closely with NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, as an advocate and community educator on issues of mental health and wellness, and mental illness.
There are many reasons this work is important to me. In my own journey, when I work with a therapist, I am able to make satisfying progress on important concerns about relationships, work, self care, and setting important achievable goals for my self. I am able to work on stopping destructive patterns in my own behavior, putting in their place much more satisfying and healthy alternatives.
I believe that our mental health is a cornerstone of all of the other dimensions of our wellbeing. When our mental health is nurtured, our physical, emotional, social, psychological and spiritual health can thrive as well. Sometimes we have significant pain or injury that we can heal through therapy. At other times, we may feel stuck, frustrated, and directionless. Therapy can be a very powerful way to address any of these concerns.
